A look back at 2008

Recipe for looking at the previous year... 1 snack-size bottle of espresso vodka, poured into the bottom of a really big mug. Mix in 3 large spoons of hot chocolate powder. Top most of the way up with boiling water, then a splash of milk. Fit in as many mini-marshmallows as possible, then top off with chocolate syrup.
January:
- Started my photo of the day project
- Was debating my future... thinking of naturopathy rather than medical school... was looking into taking doula classes too
- Started a school term, and was having trouble with my sleep due to an 8:30 am molecular endocrinology class
- Made lots of beads
- Found a new home for the last chicken and her coop
- Rolled grandpa's coin jar full of pennies, was over $100!
- We were playing lots of Guitar Hero
- I bought my bass guitar
February:
- We got our carpets installed
- Went to the gym for the first time in forever... loved it and wanted to keep going...
- Lots of studying
- More debating about whether medical school is really in my future
- Bad insomnia
- Washing lots of bottles, lots of torching and jewelry making too
- Had our 7 year anniversary
- Ciaran has her first vet visit
March:
- We play lots of Rock Band
- We go to the gem/stone fair and buy a whole ton of shiny things
- I start my lampwork journal
- Anxiety problems become rampant again
- The blossoms are out in our neighborhood
- We have an epic removal of a tick from Griffyn... he yells at us but lets us pull it out... and seems thankful after it's over
- We are giving Ciaran long-rope privileges at the park, but no off-leash. Still, she manages to lose her virginity at the park.
- I decide to take the summer off from school
April:
- I have a goddess bead featured in a small publication, "Self Portraits in Glass 2008"
- School term ends
- Ciaran has her yearly bath
- Ciaran has food-dominance issues, we start working on them more diligently
- I do some painting and drawing
- My hair becomes long enough to braid into pigtails
- Griffyn basically moves upstairs
- Tyler got his driver's license finally
- I decide to take the summer to figure myself out. I change my mind about taking the doula course, at least this point in time. I realize that I am not ready for medical school or that path... although I do not rule it out altogether.
- We get ready for the Moss St starting up again
- Ciaran destroys Alyson's fig trees
May:
- We start the Moss St
- Ciaran meets Miko and acquires the name "Shithead" after Miko rolls her in it.

- We begin letting Ciaran sleep in her bed rather than crated, and she behaves herself just fine
- The garden fence starts going up
- We do the Mother's Day craft fair at Royal Roads.. the weather is terrible and we are horribly stressed the whole time
- The weather gets retardedly hot
- I start experimenting with glass blowing
- My anxiety starts to get better
- I sleep in most days, and I do glass, and I basically just spend my time making myself happy
- I bake Tyler an extravagent cheesecake for his birthday and throw him a semi surprise party
- My allergies start up for the season

- We have really hot weather
- I start doing yard work at Alyson's mom's house and realize I really like gardening
July:

- I go to Vancouver with my mom and Sam, to see a glass show, and to go to Ikea. I realize that my anxiety is doing much, much better, and I actually enjoy the stimulation of going somewhere "new" (even if it wasn't exactly new, just somewhere I don't go very often).
- I start playing with borosilicate
September:
- I go back to school. I feel anxiety but I feel it in a different way - I'm more able to observe it from a distance than actually get stuck in it.
- I continue to question my future... I realize there are things about medicine that really interest me, but I don't know if I want all the stress of becoming a doctor
- We officially set our wedding date
- I go wedding dress shopping, first at shops, and then I find my dress on usedvictoria, and I love it.

- My car dies
- I get mail from the health plan and am optimistic that they are sending me a cheque - however, they are sending me a letter explaining that I'm not actually on a plan yet... so I have to spend even more on drugs

- We do the worst craft fair ever, like seriously, it was the Craft Fair of Doom
- I decide to resurrect my car rather than buy a new one
December:
- School term ends
- Christmas is wonderful!
- New job is exciting... now thinking maybe I can balance a job like this with being a homemaker, rather than taking 4+ more years of university... maybe I can still do more school later if I want to, but have kids first... I would like to have kids before I'm 30 rather than after
